"A book is like a garden carried in the pocket" ~Chinese Proverb
A wonderful children’s book is not only a beautiful garden, but a true sanctuary. In a world of flashy gadgetry, excessive routinization, and overworked parents, nothing compares to those quiet, intimate moments when you share a great book with a child you love. A good children's book stays with us for a lifetime. Some do so by merely being sweet and reassuring. Some do so by touching upon our own deep sense of joy and wonder. Others fill us with confidence, speak directly to our conscience or strike a deep, emotional chord. A childhood spent reading, enriched by great stories, nourishes what I call "a child for all seasons."
Welcome! Child for all Seasons is a website devoted to substantive literature for children. In this website you will find great book lists, upcoming titles, and the occasional reflection on childhood and life (see forums). As a parent, I know just how busy life can get. As I writer, I spend much of my time searching for great books. So if you are a parent, a writer or anyone else looking for true gems but might not have the time to find them, then please sit down and stay a while.
